‘DANIEL SLOSS – CAN’T is the all-new, 12th solo show by Scotland’s international comedy superstar and we are delighted to welcome him back to the Barrymore!
Marking Sloss’s 13th solo show to date, the darkly comedic Can’t sees the comic discuss (and defy) the notion that stand-ups can’t joke about anything they want, also meditating on parenthood and much more. With it, he opened the 2023 New York Comedy Festival, also selling out four nights at Montreal’s prestigious Just For Laughs festival on the heels of a sold out Canadian theater tour.
Previous hit shows from Sloss include Hubris, which was biggest solo comedy outing of 2021, and X, a show meditating on sexual assault that toured non-stop for 300 performances around the globe. X got a live concert film, released in North America on HBO, which has been made available everywhere else via Sloss’s website. X was also the first UK comedy special to have its UK premiere in theaters, with a nationwide release at Vue Cinemas.
Also behind the Netflix specials Dark and Jigsaw, Sloss takes credit with the latter relationship-focused title for causing over 350,000 breakups and 400 divorces worldwide, having had many a fan bring their divorce papers for him to autograph at shows. Sloss released his most recent special, the Austin, TX-taped Socio, through his website last year.
To date, Sloss has sold out eight solo off-Broadway runs at Soho Playhouse in NYC, toured in 55 countries, and broken box office records at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The comedian released his first book, Everyone You Hate is Going to Die, via Penguin Random House imprint Knopf in 2021. In October, he both moderated and played a minor character in “Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Reunion Live and VIP Q&A,” the first-ever international live event by the world’s biggest online Dungeons & Dragons campaign, held at London’s legendary Wembley Arena. He is repped by CAA and Marlene Zwickler & Associates in the UK.
