Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 8:00 P.M. Heartwarming, delicate, nostalgic, poignant…all words that serve as breadcrumbs leading to the talented songwriter whose initial fame spread like wildfire when several of her songs were featured in the immensely popular TV series ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘One Tree Hill’. Perched on the cutting edge of the modern day music industry, INGRID MICHAELSON has independently released her sophomore album ‘Girls and Boys’ (2007) on her own label, Cabin 24. Her debut album ‘Slow the Rain’ was also released independently in 2005. Fans of Grey’s Anatomy will instantly recognize (and are probably in love with!) the four songs that have been featured on the show, 3 of which are on her ‘Girls and Boys’ release: “Breakable”, “The Way I Am”, “Corner of Your Heart”, and “Keep Breathing”. Even if you’ve never seen the show, you’ll instantly fall for her irresistibly enchanting melodies that evoke thoughts about love past, present, and future. It’s not surprising that this Staten Island native was raised by artistic parents and was immersed into the world of music before she even started school. Her keen sense of the inner workings of human emotion coupled with her proficiency on guitar and piano provides the perfect environment for songwriting that cuts to the heart and shapes the listener’s mood. Michaelson’s gorgeously endearing voice has been compared to the legendary cool of Joni Mitchell and the sharply hypnotic indie heroine Nico. Let yourself be captured by the independent sensation, INGRID MICHAELSON, on Saturday, June 7, at the Barrymore Theatre! -By Clayton Grow
